m360 exec maps out communication landscape at CEO Summit

Faster digital adoption has led to a “seismic shift” in the way people communicate and consume information, an executive of the Application-to-Person (A2P) messaging platform m360 said at a summit of business leaders held in April.

At the CEO Summit 2022 in Baguio City, m360 COO Ramon Hirang led a discussion on the theme “Generation-less Digital Experience: The Seismic Change in Leadership and Consumer Behavior.”

“There is no doubt that recent events have accelerated digital adoption, and one of the seismic changes that support this behavior is the shift from “digital-natives” only to “generation-less” channel preferences,” he said at the summit, referring to how the pandemic hastened the digital pivot across all fronts. Philippines books biggest improvement in 5G download speeds, video experience in Asia

The Philippines booked the most significant uplift between 5G and 4G download speeds and video experience in the Asia Pacific as it registered 5G mobile technology download speeds of nearly nine times faster than 4G technology, according to the March 2022 Benchmarking the 5G Experience – Asia Pacific report of independent mobile analytics firm Opensignal.

 

It also had the biggest improvement in video experience, with Filipino users enjoying a 33% better video experience on 5G over 4G. The Philippines had an average 5G Download Speed of 136.6 Mbps during the data collection period from November 1, 2021, to January 29, 2022. (more…)

Ookla: Globe is most consistent PH mobile operator for Q1 2022

Leading digital solutions platform Globe was the most consistent Philippine mobile operator in the first quarter of the year, according to global analytics firm Ookla®. In addition to this, Globe also won the best 5G mobile video award for the period of Q3-Q4 2021.

This translates to a better video experience for Globe customers using social media and streaming platforms such as Facebook Live, Netflix, and YouTube and those engaged in online gaming.

Based on the latest Ookla® Speedtest Intelligence® data in the country, Globe had a nationwide consistency score of 79.45 from January to March 2022 compared to 70.43 in the same period last year. The upward trend continues as Globe’s current score is even higher than the 79.02 registered during the fourth quarter of 2021. (more…)

Globe wins Ookla®’s Best 5G Video Experience Award in PH

Globe has bagged Ookla®’s Best 5G Video Experience Award in the Philippines, proving that its customers are already reaping the fruits of the company’s massive network investment.

The Video Awards was launched by the network intelligence and connectivity insights global leader early this year based on local mobile networks’ performance in the third and fourth quarters of 2021.

To compute the video score of the different mobile networks, Ookla weighed the sum of multiple video metrics. It includes the proportion of tests that failed to start, time to load the first frame of video playback, quality of video loaded, the proportion of users who experienced at least one stall in video loading or playback, and the rebuffering ratio of users who experienced a stall. Globe intensifies drive vs piracy as PH posts highest content piracy rate in Asia

Globe has further intensified its drive against illegal streaming and downloading of content as the Philippines, together with Vietnam and Malaysia, again topped the list of Asian countries with the highest piracy rates.

Piracy has been a lingering problem around the world, posing a danger to the viability of businesses and the livelihood of content creators, and also exposing users to malware and other online threats.

“The ill-effects of online piracy cannot be underestimated. Globe continues to ramp up initiatives to mitigate, if not fully stop piracy, and make a positive societal impact. GCash tightens user verification process to enhance traceability ahead of 2022 elections

GCash, the country’s leading mobile wallet, has pledged to implement safeguards to prevent possible misuse of the platform for illegal vote-buying for the upcoming 2022 local and national elections.

The top e-wallet made this commitment together with other fintech companies at the recent virtual launch of FinTech Alliance Philippines and the E-Money Association of the Philippines’ (EMAP) advocacy campaign on responsible use of digital payment platforms. The campaign was launched in collaboration with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC).
